About the retreat

What better way to begin winding down another busy year than a weekend retreat to the serene countryside of Germany, just 1.5 hours outside of Berlin?

This retreat is curated for the conscious and curious, those seeking calm before the Christmas rush. Secluded from the hustle and bustle of city life, in a beautiful and safe place for yoga, we’ll create some precious time to turn inwards to reflect on the past year — what it has brought, where you stand now, and what you feel in this moment.

Our program includes daily yoga classes, chanting and sound, yoga philosophy as well as restorative practices, all centered on being within; grounding and embracing slowness.

Over four days, you will experience Jivamukti Yoga, cleansing kriyas, and wholesome, nurturing food prepared by Melanie Wehrli. Gather around cozy fireplaces, open your heart, and immerse yourself in this grounding experience.

Our program includes:

  • Daily Jivamukti Yoga Classes: Focused on grounding poses and sequences to strengthen your connection to the earth.

  • Mindfulness Meditation: Techniques for relaxation and cultivate inner peace and clarity.

  • Cleansing Kriyas: Learn and practice traditional cleansing techniques that purify the internal body and restart the system.

  • Pranayama: Complementary breath work sessions focused on enhancing the effects of kriyas, along with breathwork to support detoxification.

  • Nature Walks: Gentle walks in the beautiful countryside to deepen your connection with nature.

  • Restorative Practices: Yin yoga and deep relaxation sessions to help you unwind and release tension.

  • Wholesome Nutrition: Enjoy locally sourced and seasonal meals prepared by Mélanie Wehrli, designed to support the grounding process and nurture your body (light breakfast, extensive brunch and dinner, afternoon snack).

About the LOCATION

In the middle of the Uckermark, in the small village Friedenfelde, not far from Gerswalde, our Gutshaus invites you to relax and discover. The building was built in the 18th century and sustainably restored with a keen eye for detail. It's nestled among fruit trees in a small, spacious park, which merges into nearby woods. Benches and deck chairs invite you to linger.

Today, the estate houses a total of four vacation apartments that merge modern art, select vintage furniture and historical elements. On the ground floor, in addition to a well-equipped kitchen and a library, there is a dining room with a fireplace, two lounges, one of which also has a fireplace, and a separate room for us to practice yoga.

About ROWENA

Rowena Johnson is a 800 hours advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher as well as a 200 & 300 hours ashtanga-vinyasa teacher trainer — based in Berlin. She has been practicing yoga asana since 2008. What began as physical pursuit, soon developed into a deeper awareness of body, mind and spirit. She became inquisitive about the history and physiology of this practice and decided to explore this curiosity through various workshops, retreats, and the completion of her first 200hr training in India in 2016. Since then she has gone on to teach in the UK, Central and South America, and as a main teacher on a 200hr TTC in India.

With a personal practice of Ashtanga and Jivamukti, Rowena’s classes are strong, purposeful and interspersed with personal insights, spoken word and uplifting music. The alchemy created is inspiring and potent, far beyond the mat.

About Viktoria

Viktoria is a 800 hrs Certfied Jivamukti Teacher and the founder of SUKHA — a sanctuary for retreats and immersive experiences, curated with various holistic practices; in places where people come together to share their love and life force.

Originally from Germany, Viktoria has a big heart for Africa. After spending several years in South Africa as well as in Germany, immersed in the production and well-being industry, she felt a profound desire to interweave these realms in the pursuit of a purpose-driven fulfillment. The intermingling of her fashion, commercial, and spiritual background creates a holistic portrait of her vision.

Her yoga journey started in 2017. Mostly to make friends abroad and to stay physically fit. What began as a shallow relationship evolved over the years into a deeper practice where Viktoria sensed a profound layer to yoga: connecting body, mind and spirit. Being on the mat helps maintaining a steady mind, particularly in busy times. Making this her priority eventually led her to a transformative decision to become a Jivamukti Yoga teacher.

To share these positive influences with others, in a fast paced world — wether through dynamic asanas practice, chanting or meditation, was her incentive to start teaching.

About MéLANIE

Self-taught chef, Mélanie enjoys cooking healthy meals to nourish the soul and the body. For her, it is intuitive, with memories of smells, moments, childhood, or travels she is inspired by her life experiences.

Graduated in Fashion design, and aesthetics has always been important to her, with simplicity she marries colors and textures, and just like a painting or a fashion garment she creates a plate.

She reminds us that digestion starts with our senses, the visuals, and smells before the taste. She is passionate about health and how powerful food can affect our well-being and lifestyle. The joy of living is around a meal and the company of others. It is sharing love and taking care of one another. Just like she believes in taking care of the earth, choosing ingredients that are happily grown. Mélanie's food is about balance, love and energy.
